BIL Technologies maintains a
close working relationship
with Southern Cross University, providing education services within the School
of Resource Management as well as assisting with post graduate research
projects. The
staff of BIL Technologies teaches undergraduate students Forest Operations,
Wood Science Conversion and Utilisation as well as Product Development and
Marketing. In addition to these
activities, BIL Technologies staff supports postgraduate students by providing
technical and supervisory support where needed for project that specifically
relate to forest management and resource quality.
This support is often provided without charge and viewed as supporting
young people who will provide the ideas for emerging bio-industries. BIL Technologies staff are also involved in post graduate projects of their own,
relating to the genetics of wood quality and the development of simulation
software that offers computer based manipulation of virtual forest resources and
simulated conversion of these resources. BIL
Technologies is also involved with private sector research projects seeking to
develop new products and processes for manufactured goods that greatly reduce
cost of production or improve product performance.
These projects are conducted under contracts that demand strict
confidentiality, and provide for complete ownership of intellectual property by our clients. BIL
Technologies is a service provider in these circumstances and regards the input
of ideas and innovation as our product, and the outcome or application as the
business of our client. BIL
Technologies is also continually exploring new ideas without the sponsorship of
a client, and on occasion presents early results to potential users who are most
likely to exploit prototypes or technologies that have been developed. |
